Victoria Hart made her name as the “jazz singing waitress” who wowed George Clooney and Brad Pitt on board a yacht at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

Following all the media excitement, Hart’s debut album Whatever Happened To Romance was released on the Decca label in Autumn of the same year and attracted great reviews both in the UK and USA.

It was a dream come true for the nineteen year old, taking her in a matter of weeks from a waitress singing jazz standards to a recognised artist performing her own material in front of large audiences.

Born in California in 1988, brought up in Essex and France, Hart was singing along to Gershwin, Sinatra and Ella as a child. When she was only fifteen years old a chance meeting with hit songwriter Geoff Gurd, who heard her singing at a jazz picnic, started her career in music. Hart and Gurd spent the next three years writing songs and recording together. At the same time the young songstress attended vocal school and waited tables at the Naked Turtle Restaurant to earn a living!

Following her success at Cannes, Hart was lined up for appearances on such shows as Friday Night Is Music Night with the BBC Orchestra and at venues like Ronnie Scott’s famous London jazz club and festivals such as Glastonbury. At the same time, thanks to her open and bright character, she became a popular guest on UK shows like GMTV, Lorraine Kelley, This Morning and Loose Women as well as appearing on TV and radio in the USA.

The last twelve months has seen Victoria doing what she loves best - singing live to audiences all over Europe. She was recently in Moscow performing for a select audience on the eve of the European Champions League cup final. Shortly afterwards she departed for Cannes to sing on board a yacht at the Margarita Missoni party, as part of the film festival celebrations. In between all of these activities Victoria has found time to perform at jazz festivals and clubs throughout the UK and more dates are lined up for the autumn, including the prestigious Soho Jazz Club in London.

In the Spring of 2008, Russell Watson - “the people’s tenor” - was so impressed with Hart’s recordings that he invited her to be the special guest on his 16-date UK tour, to perform two of her own numbers with his orchestra as well as a duet with Russell himself.

Victoria Hart interprets swing, blues and jazz material in many different ways making her a unique artist who defies genres. She is retro yet modern; she sings the classic songs as well as her own original pop songs. She takes her music seriously but she is a fun loving character. As Sir David Frost said recently “she lights up a room when she walks in”.

You Magazine tipped Victoria Hart along with Candie Payne, Catherine Feeny, Remi Nicole and Keren Ann as “the ones to watch out for in 2009” and suggesting that “Amy and Lilly move over”. Victoria Hart is proving them right!
