Michelle Gayle is possibly the finest example of how an artist can defy the odds on the way to success. As a former cast member of Grange Hill, Michelle is one of those rare people who have managed to cross over from child star to adult success. She spent four years playing Hattie Tavernier in Eastenders before signing a record deal with BMG and moving onto a glittering pop career.

Michelle has enjoyed six top 20 hits, including the smash hit Sweetness, and has sold nearly a million records overall. She has been nominated for Best British Female at the BRIT Awards twice.

Michelle`s televsion career also includes Reborn in the USA, Doctors, Holby City and Family Affairs. She came third in The Games for Channel 4 in March 2006, and then joined the cast of a play called The Brothers which broke the box office record at Hackney Empire.

She was the female lead, opposite Ed Stoppard in the feature film Joy Division, released in November 2006. In January 2007, she toured the country for six months with a play called Mum’s The Word and became a guest presenter on the panel for Loose Women in the Summer.

February 2008 saw Michelle bursting back onto our TV screens singing the awesomely infectious song that she wrote with Morten Scholin called Woo (you make me) for Eurovision Your Decision, BBC’s primetime Saturday night show that decides which song should represent UK in the Eurovision song contest. Despite winning the judges votes, Michelle narrowly missed out to Andy Abrahams but the reactions from the audience and a very vociferous YouTube community has raised the interests of record companies who are looking to release the song very soon.
