Originally from Newcastle, Jon Grave spent six years as a cathedral chorister, reaching the Northern/Scottish final of Choirboy of the Year and performing his first lead operatic role as Amahl with Northern Opera.

Jon's recent roles include the Messenger Theodora and Jamie My Fair Lady with the Northern Sinfonia, Tamino Magic Flute with Village Opera, Misael in Britten’s The Burning Fiery Furnace and Monk/Servant The Prodigal Son with Imperial Opera, Nemorino L’elisir d’amore, Belfiore La finta giardiniera and Gherado Gianni Schicchi with Handmade Opera, Eisenstein Die Fledermaus, Le Remendado Carmen, Fairfax Yeoman of the Guard and Frederick Pirates of Penzance with Aquarian Opera.

Jon is also a talented trumpeter and studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He performed for the Queen at the opening of London’s Millennium Bridge, before focusing solely on a vocal career with Adrian Thompson and Margaret Humphrey-Clark, and since 2004 with Colin Baldy in London and Italy.

Jon’s performances take him around the world, he has sung over forty different oratorios, thirty operas, performed and conducted on film soundtracks, TV and radio broadcasts, toured Europe with the platinum selling Gregorian, brought opera to the masses in a proms concert at Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light, released a solo album Operatic Arias, was runner-up in the 2007 Classic FM Live & Uploaded competition, and has starred in two films, Speak a Little Higher and Jenny.
