Mike Read has enjoyed an amazingly successful and remarkably diverse career spanning radio, television, theatre and even a brief stint as a London mayoral candidate. A household name for over twenty five years, Mike’s impressive CV includes a whopping ten Broadcaster of the year awards and some of television’s most successful music programmes.

Mike began his illustrious career at Radio Luxembourg before moving to Radio 1 in 1978, eventually taking the reins of Radio 1’s Breakfast Show in 1981. Mike has presented radio shows for Classic FM, Jazz FM and Capital Gold, as well as his current position hosting the Morning Show on the Big L radio station. Mike’s TV credentials include Saturday Superstore, Pop Quiz and the famous Top of the Pops. Mike also holds the prestigious honour of presenting the very last episode of Top of the Pops in 2006. Recently, Mike has put together the extremely successful Words and Music album; a musical homage to the poet, Sir John Betjeman, featuring contributions from Steve Harley, Don McLean and Donovan among others.

Mike has produced a number of successful shows for the West End including Great Expectations, A Christmas Carol, Cliff the Musical and Ricky Nelson...Teenage Idol. Eminent actors appearing in his musicals and shows have included Nyree Dawn Porter, Brian Glover, Colin Baker, Anton Rogers, Jeremy Irons, Alvin Stardust and Bernard Cribbens to name but a few. Mike’s experiences in this demanding industry have ensured he is a consummately professional compère and host for awards ceremonies or corporate events. Mike can even host his legendary game show Pop Quiz at your next event to delight audiences, no matter what the occasion.
