Clive Anderson was born in Stanmore, Middlesex in 1952. After studying law at Cambridge University, where he was also President of the Footlights revue group, he practised as a barrister in London for about 15 years.
A successful comedy script writer, Clive first wrote for Frankie Howard and contributed considerably to Not the Nine O`Clock News with Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones. He became a successful stand-up comedian, which led to presenting radio and television programmes, becoming a household name with Whose line is it anyway? on Channel 4. He presented ten series of his chat show Clive Anderson Talks Back, picking up British Comedy Awards in 1991 and 1992, before moving on to BBC1 with Clive Anderson All Talk.
On radio he chairs Unreliable Evidence, made by Above The Title Productions for Radio 4, in which Clive cross-examines some of the most eminent legal figures in the country. Clive recently presented his own quiz show, Brainbox Challenge and can be seen making regular appearences on comedy panel shows Have I got News For You?, Mock the Week and QI.
Clive lives in Highbury, north London, with his wife, three children and two dogs.
