Paul Rankin is a critically acclaimed chef who was the illustrious recipient of Irelands first ever Michelin Star. Paul runs the neighbourhood restaurant Cayenne in Belfast. But it was at the very successful Roscoff, where he was previously Head Chef, that he received the coveted Restaurant of the Year in the BBC Good Food Magazine's awards and also the highly-sought star.

Paul is best known for being one of the longest standing and most successful chefs on BBC2’s Ready Steady Cook. Recently, Paul has appeared on Step up to the Plate, Local Food Heroes, and Saturday Kitchen. Paul’s new BBC2 cookery series is due to air in April 2009. In 2005, Paul was asked to overhaul the menus at a Belfast Care Home for the elderly and his enthusiasm for this cause has led to him addressing conferences and events for care industry professionals. This in turn prompted Tonight with Trevor McDonald to carry out a special report on the subject for ITV1 in which Paul was heavily featured.

When not busy in his restaurants and with his television commitments, Paul is furiously writing recipes. He has published several books including Gourmet Ireland, Gourmet Ireland 2, Ideal Home Cooking, Dublin Dining and New Irish Cookery. Paul is the current International Ambassador for Bushmills Whiskey and has his own range of phenomenally successful Irish breads with Irwins Bakery.
