Michael McKell has had an extremely varied and highly successful career across the range of the showbiz spectrum. Michael got his first taste of fame in the 80s when he was a prolific singer and songwriter. He enjoyed three major record deals and penned tunes for 80’s pop legends such as Toyah Willcox, Dollar and Elaine Page. In 1991, Michael was involved in a near-fatal car crash which would serve to change his aspirations from thriving singer to aspiring actor in one fell swoop.

Michael studied acting at the Lee Strasberg institute for three years and shortly after, embarked on a fruitful stint on the stage. Michael appeared in classical roles such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth before making his west end debut in the internationally acclaimed musical Blood Brothers. Michael then went on to appear in the Rod Stuart musical Tonight’s the Night where he enjoyed a fantastic run of fourteen months in the role of ‘Stoner’.

Michael exploded onto the big screen alongside Sean Bean with his role in 2000’s east end epic Essex Boys as well as staring in TV hits such as Eastenders, The Bill and critically acclaimed Blessed. Michael became an instantly recognisable face after excellent performances in M.I.T: Murder Investigation Team and most recently, BBC`s Doctors, where he played Dr Nick West. Michael’s tenure in the cast of Doctors recently came to an end having filmed his last, emotionally charged scenes.
