Just ten acts now remain in the live finals of X Factor 2011, following the departure of Sami Brookes, Nu Vibe, Amelia Lily, 2 Shoes, James Michael and Jonjo Kerr. Of those still in the competition, there seems to be an emerging consensus that Janet Devlin and The Risk are frontrunners to win. Janet’s performance of the Guns ‘n’ Roses track Sweet Child O’Mine appeared to have one of the most obvious connections to the night’s “rock theme”, however, despite its less obvious connection, The Risk’s interpretation of Crazy was also received well by the audience and judges alike.

Other acts touted as potential winners include Misha B and Craig Colton, whilst the sometimes controversial and widely reported on & off-stage behaviour of Frankie Cocozza and Kitty Brucknell has cast some doubt over their potential to make it through to the grand final, despite some strong and often standout performances.

One of E3 Artists’ managed acts, Billy, has made it through to bootcamp with his band Brooklyn in series 8 of the X Factor. The band received strong praise from judges including Gary Barlow who felt it “was a really good audition” and Louis Walsh who summarised the performance by saying “I think there’s something good here”.

The boys are already busy as a result of their television appearance, and have now confirmed several event bookings including nightclub appearances, charity events and Christmas Lights switch-on events. Series 8 of ITV’s The X Factor began last Saturday evening with some stand-out performances by Frankie Cocozza and and Janet Devlin. 18 year old “cheekie chappie” Frankie, charmed the audience and judges with his good humour and Rod Stewart style vocals. Shy and nervous 16 year old Janet, on the other hand, had judge Kelly Rowland “completely in a trance by your voice”. The talented youngster sang Elton John’s Your Song and received a standing ovation at the end.

Other interesting performances included 26 year old woman-on-the-edge Kitty Brucknell, who offered a “great audition” according to judge Gary Barlow and also solicited praise from Louis Walsh who confirmed “you can sing, girl!”.

Congratulations to winning X Factor contestant Matt Cardle who won 45% of the public vote on the final episode of last night’s show. Matt finished the show with a highly charged performance of the track When We Collide, which climaxed with runners up Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction joining him on stage, together with other contestants from the final stages of the show.

Despite some energetic performances in week 8 of the X Factor, Katie Waissel has now left the ITV show. Her performance of the Kings of Leon track Sex on Fire prompted judge Louis Walsh to say “I can see you fronting your own rock band, that was a very believable performance”. Simon Cowell added that her performance was “everything which I love about you”.

X Factor’s Wagner Carrilho has left the show in week 8 of the competition despite a truly astonishing performance of the Radiohead track Creep. Brazilian born Wagner, received strong praise from the judges. “I agree with Danni…that was actually your strongest performance singing” said Cheryl Cole, whilst Simon Cowell felt the distinctive take on the indie classic was “very good”.

John Adeleye has left the X Factor in week 3 of the live finals. Despite a great performance of the track Zoom, John unfortunately lost out in the sing-offs to Treyc Cohen. John enjoyed a successful run on the show, with mainly positive feedback from the judges. Cheryl Cole told John there is “something really adorable about you, it’s so refreshing”. John’s classic vocals and style is likely to make him a popular choice with event bookers in the near future.

Popular duo, Diva Fever, have left the X Factor in week 2 of the live finals. Despite an energetic performance which Louis Walsh described as “a big, big disco” that “puts a smile on everyone’s face”, the group did not make it through the vote to round 3. Diva Fever’s energetic shows are, however, likely to make them a popular choice with event planners this Christmas.
