It’s probably fair to say that magic acts went through a period of being quite unfashionable in the “cool Britannia” nineties. Then along came U.S imports such as David Blaine, who turned the performance of magic on its head; connecting with the public on the street and giving the art form a sense of urban cool.

More recently, British acts such as Derren Brown and Dynamo have created a strong sense of style coupled with an innovative and creative approach to trickery. Derren’s demystification of psychic phenomenon and Dynamo’s hip-hop illusionism have captivated new audiences and brought magic back into the limelight.

This renaissance in magic is probably one of the reasons the BBC has commissioned its popular new series The Magicians; which now features on their primetime 7pm slot on Saturday evenings. Guest hosts this week included David Hasselhoff and Craig-Revel Horwood – adding a family “variety” feel to the show. However, the show is now beginning to make stars of its magic performers, including; Barry & Stuart, Latimer and Pete Firman.

Great performances from these acts, coupled with celebrity guests and audience interaction seems key to this show. With a new appetite for innovative magic acts emerging on the events scene, it’s likely that the stars of The Magicians will find themselves in demand by event planners looking to make an impact with their live shows.

Pat Sharp Sends Rush of Visitors to E3 Site

Jungle adventurer, Pat Sharp, has sparked a storm of interest online following his appearance on the ITV show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. The TV and radio presenter has provoked inquisitive viewers of the show to hit Google in the search for more information about the former Fun House star. E3 Group, who deal with live event booking enquiries for Pat, appear high up on Google’s results pages when you carry out a search for his name.

His appearance on the show is testament to the power of television – in the 9 days he appeared on I’m a Celeb, we experienced as much as 3 times the usual number of visitors to our website. Since his exit from the show, our booking agents have been dealing with a flurry of enquiries from event producers hoping to secure Pat for forthcoming live events.

Linda Lusardi has made it through to the semi finals of Masterchef. She recently told us “it was one of the most stressful programmes I have ever been involved with. I didn’t ever think I would cry over cooking but I did”. The E3 Artists team, who exclusively manage Linda, are all keeping our fingers crossed and hoping she progresses even further in the contest.

If you’re heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe festival this year, make sure you don’t miss Kev Orkian’s show which starts this Friday 5th August. After a successful run at the Fringe last year, two international tours, numerous national tours and personal invitations to entertain royalty; Kev brings the
second instalment to his piano playing foreign character.

Compared to the likes of Bill Bailey, Victor Borge and Jools Holland, Kev will have you rolling in the aisles whilst mesmerising you with his piano skills. Kev’s manager, E3′s own David Hill, says “If there is one show you see this year it has to be Kev Orkian’s. Catch him while you can, he is destined for great things”.

Congratulations to singer Jai Mcdowall for his well deserved win on the 2011 series of Britain’s Got Talent. The powerful vocalist from Scotland performed to an average 12.5 million viewers in the final of the popular show. He beat the favourite to win, Ronan Parke, who finished in 2nd place.

The children’s charity Over The Wall brought together a fabulous evening of entertainment recently with the assistance of our E3 Artists booking team. Their Tribute to Paul Newman event on Sunday May 8th at the Playhouse Theatre was a great success, helping to raise money and awareness for a brilliant cause.

E3 Artists co-ordinated appearances from George and Larry Lamb, The Barwizards, X-Factor‘s Danyl Jonson, Britain’s Got Talent‘s Tobias Mead. Needless to say, the evening was a fantastic mix of comedy, magic, dance and music…those involved were over the moon!

Akai

Akai is without doubt one of the most talented and youngest of our available dancers for hire. The 11 year old street dancer is the winner of Got To Dance 2010 and is now very much in demand for public events and festivals. E3 Artists recently secured Akai, together with Twist and Pulse, as the star turns in the dance event Have To Dance at the forthcoming ArtsFest at Wellington College this summer.

Flava

Another popular act from Britain’s Got Talent, and one that our agents frequently recommend to clients, is Flava. Recently, this hip-hop dance group flew over to Frankfurt for the Nokia & Siemens Network conference. In an appearance arranged by E3 Artists, the group were cleverly disguised as waiters during the event, before exploding out into the conference with an array of crazy moves and polished routines, taking the event guests completely by surprise! A standing ovation concluded their performance and, needless to say, we had nothing but positive feedback fro our client.

Signature

Michael Jackson and Bhangra inspired dance act, Signature, continue to prove an extremely popular booking with both corporate and private events planners. E3 Artists recently secured the duo an appearance at a surprise 40th birthday party in Nottingham. In addition to their stage performance, the duo danced with the guests; everyone loved it and the E3 team managed to keep the whole event a surprise.

Flawless

Our list of cutting-edge dancers for hire wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of Flawless. This act has gone from strength to strength since reaching the finals of Britain’s Got Talent, and recently made a huge impact with our client Travel Weekly at their Globe Travel Awards.
