Gareth Oliver’s Appearance on Britain’s Got Talent Sparks Record Web Visits

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Gareth Oliver certainly acheived our vote following his appearance on Monday night’s semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent. The comedy-ventriloquist has enjoyed a successful working partnership with E3 Group and he is also a personal friend of our CEO, David Hill. Gareth has always been a popular booking with our clients. In 2007 he completed a successful contract with us; entertaining guests on behalf of First Choice Holidays. We think he’s thoroughly deserving of the recognition he’s acheived on the show and the continuing success we know it will offer him.

He is clearly very popular with the general public too. Following his appearance on Monday night, our website has experienced record levels of visitors. Hundreds of people have been logging on and enquiring about his availability for private events. Gareth now has contractual obligations with ITV for a certain period, although our entertainment agents are happy to advise on his booking availability.

Celebrity and Entertainment Hire Costs - May 2009

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

With festival season about to get into full swing, this month’s pricelist features some acts who are not averse to outdoor performances. At E3 Artists we regularly field calls from both festival start-ups and established festival organisers; looking for assistance from an entertainment agency like ourselves with booking the line-up.

Often event organisers require assistance with the fee negotiation element to booking high profile acts. Our agents here have a lot of experience in this area; however there is a limit to what can be achieved. The pricelist below, for example, offers a sample of the fees you can expect to pay to hire bands, celebrities and entertainers in May 2009. These fees exclude VAT, riders and any technical expenses such as sound and light installation. For clarification on prices you can always speak to one of our agents in our London office.

1. Take That

There has been some speculation that Take That could headline Glastonbury in 2010. If so, it will mark an apex in the astonishing transformation and resurgence of this well-established group. You can hire Take That for approximately £150,000.

2. Scouting for Girls

A number one album under their belt, a successful appearance at last year’s Glastonbury and further appearances confirmed for this summer, this band are still a hot ticket. Hire Scouting For Girls for approximately £45,000.

3. Michael McIntyre

Michael has emerged this year as one of the UK’s most popular new comedians; now embarking on a sell-out national tour. He’s available for limited private and corporate bookings. Hire Michael McIntyre for approximately £15,000.

4. Antony Worral Thompson

One of the UK’s most recognisable celebrity chefs and a formidable culinary talent. He’s available for private demonstrations, events and possibly even festivals. You can book Antony Worral Thompson for around £10,000.

5. Bootleg Beatles

The longest running and most successful Beatles tribute band; this group are not averse to the festival circuit having shared the stage with other luminaries such as Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi, David Bowie and Iggy Pop. Book the Bootleg Beatles for around £10,000.

6. Louis Mariette

This fashion stylist and judge on Britain’s Next Top Model has lent his expertise to many event planners and creative directors looking to create a distinct, glamorous feel. Hire Louis Mariette for around £5,000.

7. Amberstar

Continuing the part-festival theme of this month’s pricelist, Amberstar are an exciting and talented rock band available for parties, functions and festivals and at a very reasonable price tag. Book Amberstar for around £1,500.

8. Bruce Parker

Powerful vocals and incredible stage presence define this established singer who, in the past, has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson and performed for US President Bill Clinton! Book Bruce Parker for approximately £500.

9. Nathan Zorchak

Brighton’s chain-juggling “unusualist”, Nathan is also a highly experienced close-up magician with significant experience both nationally and internationally performing at corporate events. Book Nathan Zorchak for around £350.

10. Louise Dawson

Louise has emerged as one of our favourite new acts over the last few months. Our clients regularly keep coming back to book her; clearly blown away by her style and vocals. Hire Louise Dawson for approximately £300.

Contact E3 Artists for a tailored quote for these acts and many others!

Opera Singers for Weddings

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Opera singers are incredibly popular choices for wedding entertainment and, with the summer season almost upon us, the team here at E3 Artists are spending increasing amounts of time advising our customers on vocalists they should consider booking.

One of the many talented acts we work with is Kathleen Garner, pictured above. Kathleen is perfect for classical style weddings and her operatic tone lends both beauty and drama to any ceremony. Kathleen is a graduate of the Trinity College of Music and has also completed the The Knack, the international renowned performance skills course at the English National Opera.

Getting the right Opera singer for your wedding or event is crucial and although we would recommend Kathleen we would also suggest that you speak to an entertainment agent before you make your decision. Our agents here at E3 Artists work with a wide range of Opera singers and can advise you accordingly.

Could Simon Cowell Leave X Factor, American Idol or Britain’s Got Talent?

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

In the last few months, there has been a bit of press surrounding Simon Cowell’s predicted exit from one of his many talent shows. Depending on who you believe, Simon is set to depart from Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and American Idol. Obviously, to assume that he will be leaving all three would be slightly absurd, I mean, what would this multi-millionaire find to do in his spare time? It is still quite possible that he will leave one of these shows and this got me wondering which one and what, if any, impact this would have on the show in question. I think it is unlikely that Simon will leave Britain’s Got Talent as he seems to really enjoy judging this show. He has, however, said no to judging the American version perhaps indicating that one is enough. The X Factor producers have indicated that they think Mr Cowell is “replaceable” but I think you have to take that with a pinch of salt since Simon owns the whole format and he himself hires and fires those same producers. American Idol is the most likely of the three to see Simon depart, in my opinion. The format is owned by Simon Fuller and not Mr Cowell and although he has said that he enjoys not worrying about anything except the judging while on Idol, I think that he could leave and subsequently try to launch The X Factor in the USA. This is exactly what happened to Pop Idol in the UK with that name long removed from the popular vernacular.

If Simon was to depart from any of the above franchises, the impact could be devastating. E3 Group recently created a bespoke production of Strictly Come Dancing for clients Thomas Cook, replicating the format as close to the original as possible. Initially, the view was taken that we would not use a Craig Revel Horwood style, nasty judge in the production as we worried this could de-motivate the contestants and audience, defeating the point of any corporate production! We found this notion to be completely wrong. The second version of the production came complete with the nasty judge and the audience revelled in it. It gave them a figure to unite against in mutual hatred and somewhere to direct those almighty boos! If Simon Cowell leaves any of his talent shows, this will be the result. A void where the boo-absorbing sponge used to be will appear and overly nice comments will begin to pour from those remaining judges without anyone to keep them in check. If the producers try to replace Simon with another harsh talking judge, audiences will see through this too easily. It will become all too obvious that a format has been created independent of those who appear on it, easily dismantled and repackaged with new faces. I know, to some extent, this has been happening already throughout the evolution of this kind of talent show, but for me, Simon is the lynchpin that keeps all these formats ticking over. To remove him could truly sound the death knell for any one of these popular talent shows.
